The bold aim of AAUW-New Jersey’s Tech Trek is to change how millions of girls think about science, technology, engineering and math—aka STEM. Using gender equitable evidence-based practices in STEM education, Tech Trek produces a one week long STEM camp hosted by Stockton University where 60 girls live and work on college campus immersed in STEM related fun and challenging activities. We want to inspire, enable and maximize STEM learning and participation for all girls, ultimately encouraging greater interest in STEM careers. This is where you come in. As a STEM professional, you are in a position to make a real difference in girls’ lives by becoming a role model and a sponsor. You can simply volunteer your time or resources or become a mentor. As women become more prevalent in STEM careers, more and more young girls will begin to recognize the additional career opportunities open to them. With more women in the field, it will become more evident to young girls what they can offer the world.

Michelle will start the program by introducing you to AAUW-NJ’s Tech Trek and the exciting world of technology that lies ahead! Carol will then speak about AAUW’s Mission and AAUW of New Jersey’s STEM projects.

Professional Women Panelists Needed for Tech Trek

This post is from our friends at the American Association of University Women (AAUW)…

Tech Trek camp welcomes a full panel of Women in STEM Professions to a Networking Dinner with the campers, followed by a panel, brief inspirational remarks, and questions from the campers.

We seek 30 women volunteers for this evening at Stockton University’s Campus Center Event Room on Thursday, July 21, 2016 from 6:00 – 9:30pm.

If you have experience working in a STEM field, please volunteer to participate in Professional Woman’s Night, by completing the Volunteer Form.

Also, if you know of any women who currently work in STEM positions, that are not AAUW Members, please forward them this email, and ask them to fill out the form.

Need more information? Please contact Dottie Pearson.

Our second annual Tech Trek residential camp, will be open to 60 girls in New Jersey counties where AAUW members have volunteered to participate: Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Essex, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, and Passaic.
