The bold aim of AAUW-New Jersey’s Tech Trek is to change how millions of girls think about science, technology, engineering and math—aka STEM. Using gender equitable evidence-based practices in STEM education, Tech Trek produces a one week long STEM camp hosted by Stockton University where 60 girls live and work on college campus immersed in STEM related fun and challenging activities. We want to inspire, enable and maximize STEM learning and participation for all girls, ultimately encouraging greater interest in STEM careers. This is where you come in. As a STEM professional, you are in a position to make a real difference in girls’ lives by becoming a role model and a sponsor. You can simply volunteer your time or resources or become a mentor. As women become more prevalent in STEM careers, more and more young girls will begin to recognize the additional career opportunities open to them. With more women in the field, it will become more evident to young girls what they can offer the world.
Michelle will start the program by introducing you to AAUW-NJ’s Tech Trek and the exciting world of technology that lies ahead! Carol will then speak about AAUW’s Mission and AAUW of New Jersey’s STEM projects.
